"The entire concept of 'curiosity' was new to me with respect to nutrition counseling. It seemed like a very unlikely word to include. I came to understand, however, how it can increase our awareness of our/client's behaviors when taking a more curious stance (I wonder how much food It will take to fill me up/satisfy me?) rather than a more judgmental, negative stance such as "I'm not supposed to eat more than this for lunch, but I seem extra hungry today!". Molly Kellogg, RD, LCSW, is a Psychotherapist, Nutritionist and Life Coach with a private practice in Philadelphia.
Molly's passion in life is to guide her clients and colleagues on a path to the fullest expression of themselves in their personal, professional and nutritional lives. She does this by encouraging observation of their process and by promoting curiosity and experimentation.
Molly is also a nationally recognized expert on health behavioral change. She is the author of the free e-mail series, Counseling Tips for Nutrition Therapists. They include practical approaches for health professionals not trained in counseling techniques and language for addressing resistance. Her book, Counseling Tips for Nutrition Therapists: Practice Workbook provides case studies and suggested language.
Molly has been providing 9-hour training workshops for health professionals, the Counseling Intensive, since 2004 in which she weaves mindfulness for the clinician and client. She is an engaging presenter with a reputation for accessible, practical workshops.
She has a Masters Degree in Nutrition Science (Drexel University, 1979) and a Masters degree in Social Work (Bryn Mawr College, 1994). She is a certified Gestalt Therapist and avid cyclist.
